“The return of the .stp language converter”

Hello everyone,

I assume you have all heared about the
"Fantastic 40" - 40 Application Templates for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, released by Microsoft.
The good news is these are really beautiful templates that provide both good ideas and initial starting point for implementing and deploying WSS sites for various business needs.
The bad news is that these templates were published only in 10 “chosen“ languages (in addition to English): French, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Hebrew, Chinese simplified and Chinese traditional.
To be more accurate, not all the 40 templates were released in these 10 languages, but only part of them (the Core templates).

Well, about a year ago I have published a tip:
Changing the language of a site template (.stp) file that describes how to translate a site template file (.stp) to a desired language, along with a freeware utility.
So, finally I can happily inform that the new version of the .stp language converter utility is ready for MOSS 2007/WSS 3.0.

Download the new freeware version from:

Hi there,
Can I use this tool in order to change my MOSS 2007 US-us corporate site into NL-nl?
I do know that every new site collection or page will show in Dutch (after the installation of the appropriate language pack), but there are a lot of English pages that needs to be converted

Thanks for the time!
Regards,
Amancio

The tool does bot convert an existing site. The tool creates a new site template (.stp file) in a requested language, a template that you can use to create new sites in your preferred language.

Hello
If I try to convert an English Room and Equipment reservation stp into Hungarian, the stp file itself is created, however - after uploding this new template - I still cannot create a Hungarian site based on this template. What am I doing wrong?

Why it does'nt run for me?
I try to convert from Italian to English, but when I upload the converted stp file to the gallery on the SP Collection the site template appears without language (blank field) and so is unusable.

My server platform is a MOSS 2007 but I work on my workstation Windows XP Professional.

Please help me!!!!

You should ue thlanguge with the country name, ex: French - France, or French - Canada. Then the template will work for you. If you used French only, the template will appear with no language.

Hope that will help.

Hello,

i have download the tool. If I install I get these Error Message: MSVCR71.dll not found.

These .dll stay in Windows/system32.

What have I to do?

1. DO NOT download this file from the internet!

2. It is a part of the C++ runtime library. Google it and download from Microsoft web site only.

All non-microsoft sites offering this download (or any other system DLLs) are offering you virus/trojan within the DLL they provide.

Hello Shai,

I have this file on several other places:

- C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Shared\ASUpgrade
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12\ADDINS
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\microsoft shared\OFFICE12\VS Runtime

My Server is Win2008 R2 64bit

What is my error?

Regards jonnyenglisch

No sure... Try to run the utility as administrator.

Also - the DLL may not be registered to the system... usually it suppose to be under windows/system32 and registered using regsvc in command prompt.

Installing the C++ runtime will make sure it is installed in the right place and registered. So if you done that I think just run it as admin (right click - run as administrator) and it should work.

P.s. if i remember correctly - you can run this tool from your client PC, not only from SharePoint server...

Try to turn off UAC or to run the MSI as administrator.

Hi,
Here is what i want you to do:

1. Copy the .MSI file to the root directory of your hard drive (C:\).
2. Open Windows Notepad and paste this text (use the actual MSI file location/name):

msiexec /i "C:\program_name.msi"

3. Save the text file to your desktop, but change the txt to "bat" file type

4. On your desktop, right click on the file and select "Run as Administrator".

Please report back if this works for you or not.

Thanks! Shai.
